35 days ago an unassuming Malayalam film backed by actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan and directed by Dominic Arun and headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen hit the cinema halls. Even the makers were not sure of the true box office potential of the film, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Dulquer shared that he was thinking that the film would lose money. But the film has turned out to be the biggest money spinner of Malayalam cinema beating Manjummel Boys. The film in its 35 day long run has proved it’s mass connect with the audience and has broken the mould that female led films don’t bring audience to the theaters.

As the film spent more and more time in the cinema halls,it went on destroying one record after another. The film has gone on the become to become the highest female led film from South of India and has the highest footfalls of 21st century for a Malayalam film.

On the 35th day the film added Rs 1.85 crore to its total tally, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 150.75 crore. And with this the film has nudged Kangana Ranaut’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns from the 2nd spot of highest grossing female led film. In the film Kangana played a double role and the film had gone on to mint Rs 150.71 crore as its lifetime run, the film still remains the actor turned politician’s most successful film.

With Dusshera holiday today and upcming weekend, the film is primed to have a cash rich time at the box office. With Dulquer already announcing that he’s in no rush to release the film on OTT, the film will hold on to cinema halls for a long time and will try to narrow the gap The Kerala Story which holds the top spot on the leadership board.
