Director Chidambaram‘s upcoming film ‘Balan: The Boy’ is gearing up for its theatrical release on June 19. The project has great hype among audiences, especially following the filmmaker’s blockbuster success with Manjummel Boys.The thriller film received another boost after veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan shared his thoughts during an interaction with the team arranged by Cue Studio.
Priyadarshan calls ‘Balan’ the best film he has seen in the last two years
During the interaction, Priyadarshan did not hold back his admiration for the project. He described Balan as one of the finest films he has watched in recent years and predicted a lasting legacy for the movie.He said, “I think this is the best film I’ve seen in the last two years.” ‘Bhooth Bangla’ director added, “‘Balan’ will be remembered forever as one of the greatest Malayalam films.”Priyadarshan also opened up about the importance of the film’s writing and acknowledged the contribution of the entire crew.He said, “A great film comes together naturally. Though Chidambaram is the captain of the ship every member of the crew has done a remarkable job. The screenplay is the backbone of any film, and Balan has an excellent one. Despite its slow pace, the film remains consistently engaging. I don’t know how you managed to execute it so effectively.”
Ram Gopal Varma also impressed by ‘Balan’
Priyadarshan is not the only filmmaker to have praised the project. Earlier this year, director Ram Gopal Varma shared his reaction after watching a preview cut of the film.Posting a picture wit Chidambaram on social media, RGV wrote, “Me with #Chidambaram, the BLOCKBUSTER director of #ManjummelBoys. Just saw a small cut of his latest film #Balan and it’s BEYOND FANTASTIC. Just AMAZING.”
Strong creative team behind ‘Balan’
‘Balan: The Boy’ features a screenplay by Jithu Madhavan, the filmmaker behind the successful Malayalam hits ‘Romancham’ and ‘Aavesham’.The film also reunites several technicians who worked on ‘Manjummel Boys’. The crew includes music composer Sushin Shyam, cinematographer Shyju Khalid, production designer Ajayan Chalissery and editor Vivek Harshan.Actor Tovino Thomas is also expected to make a special cameo appearance in the movie.
